Yaesu FT-100D Transceiver

This transceiver is installed in my car.  I have the separation kit which means the main transceiver is concealed in the boot, with just the front panel on the dashboard.

It covers all the HF bands from 160m to 6m, and VHF bands 2m & UHF band 70cm.

I now have a new vehicle, a 1999 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2DTi Limited.  I have installed the FT-100D and bought an ATAS-120 as the antenna.  The ATAS works well on 40m and 20m, but I am not too sure about its efficiency on 2m and 70cm.  I now have a dedicated 6m, 2m & 70cm antenna (with some gain) on the vehicle.

Installation Problems and Solutions:  After a few weeks of installation other amateurs complained of a lot of interference on the transmitted signal (It sounded like a machine gun).  This was found to be a problem with the extension to the microphone lead which had got caught in the slide rail of the driver's side front seat.  It is all sorted out now.

I started getting extreme interference problems on 20m which caused a "VFO Error" on the transceiver.  It turned out that RF was being picked up by the separation data cable.  Rerouting the cable cleared up the problem.
