I found this scanner in the clearance stock in Maplin's in Thurock.  None of the assistants had any idea what it was.  I paid very little for it, but it was missing the software and manual.  Thank you, the internet, a quick download and I knew everything there is to know about this piece of kit.

It then sat in a box for quite a while, after all, what is a receiver without a good antenna system.  

It is now working, connected to a wideband scanner antenna in the attic.  I have been busy downloading software to drive it from my Linux PC.

I am now exploring all the various software which incorporates radio control.  This receiver is ideally suited to tracking beacons, or even satelites!  I have to keep playing with it, or at least trying to write software to operate it.
